An unforgettable outdoor education experience on Orcas Island
6th Grade Camp is our annual 3-day, 2-night experience at Camp Orkila on beautiful Orcas Island. It's not just a field trip – it's school for the week and the designated curriculum for ALL 6th grade students!
Camp Orkila sits on beautiful Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. You'll take charter buses to the Washington State ferry, cruise through Puget Sound, and arrive at 280 acres of beaches, forests, and meadows!
Live and work cooperatively with classmates! Share cabin experiences, participate in community-building activities, and create bonds that last long after the trip ends.
Take outdoor science classes taught by YMCA Camp Orkila staff! Learn about marine ecosystems, forest ecology, pond investigations, and the amazing Pacific Northwest environment.
Try things you've never done before! Whether it's archery, rope bridge building, or intertidal exploration, you'll surprise yourself with what you can do.
